"Ten Bills In The First Ten Hours"
The Uninvited Ombudsman has received reliable confidential reports that the Obama administration, working closely with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, may attempt to introduce and enact ten new bills in the first ten hours of his presidency. You may recall Democrats tried something similar but less ambitious when they took control of Congress in 2006, and were hampered by a Republican in the White House.
Any attempt to do so -- hiding contents, avoiding debate, removing representation and defeating democratic principles -- would be an intolerable act. The need to respond if such a subversion of democracy is attempted would be immediate. We should all hope for the best, and prepare for the worst. Keep your eyes peeled.

CORRECTION: I wrote that "America has 3% of the world's population but uses 25% of the world's energy." Larry A. of talonsite.com points out that, "The U.S., with 3% of the world's population,GENERATES 25% of the energy produced in the world," making it our energy, not the world's. Note also that sometimes the figure says we use 25% of the world's oil, not energy. Well, which is it? The media cares not, as long as the stat makes the U.S. look bad. When you consider that America's work ethic, productivity and generosity provides more assistance to the world than anyone by far, maybe the figure ought to be higher. And it is -- nations burdening the planet with massive overpopulation jammed into helatious poverty should not be part of a straight ratio of energy use, but since this also helps make the U.S. look bad, the point is ignored.

The lamestream media told you:
Change is coming, change is good, we've got to get this country back on track, Obama has said we will "fundamentally transform" the greatest nation on Earth.
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
Change can be good depending on what the changes are. Changes that "fundamentally transform the greatest nation on Earth" into something else might not be good, especially if they increases statism, decrease human rights or disregard personal property and individual liberty.
To gauge the nature of coming changes, use The Obama Litmus Test. If these test items are attempted, "change" might require a public outcry of undefined proportions. Complaint, uprising or actual rebellion? Time will tell.

2- Obama's Gun Plans

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
Obama's opening salvo in his war against gun rights has been officially posted on the president-elect's site -- http://change.gov/agenda/urbanpolicy/
The Tiahrt amendment, which prevents every local police and sheriff's office from fishing through federal firearm records will be repealed. Currently, only BATFE is authorized to access the sensitive data, provides it to local LEOs as needed and only while conducting bona fide criminal investigations. NY mayor Bloomberg is instigating this, to get his hands on the data and advance his harassing lawsuits against the gun industry. The Uninvited Ombudsman predicts the next step will be complaints that most private gun ownership data is not in federal hands, and can't be searched "to keep Americans safe."
This line is too good not to quote: "Obama and Biden also favor commonsense (sic) measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them." This includes something called, "making guns in this country childproof." It's not clear what that means, but respecting 2A rights, and making sure guns don't work "for the children" are incompatible goals. The Uninvited Ombudsman predicts that police will be unilaterally exempt from dangerous inoperability schemes.
Private sales of firearms are on the list for suppression, using the deceptive "gun-show loophole" scheme. McCain's widely supported but failed proposal called for cleverly closing gun shows completely. https://www.gunlaws.com/GunShows/index.htm The Uninvited Ombudsman predicts that any private transfer of a firearm will be wrapped into this package when it is announced.
The final posted plan for "respecting the Second Amendment" includes a new bill under the euphemism of a "permanent assault weapon ban," for weapons that "belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets." American marksmen who have memories remember that Clinton's ban under this title banned guns by name, looks, cosmetic features and petty details. Most odious, sale of normal capacity magazines were outlawed, and only magazines with a limit of 10 rounds could be purchased, forcing prices to rise from about $15 each to more than $150. Although Obama worked to ban all semi-automatic firearms in Illinois, the Uninvited Ombudsman does not predict that this will happen on the first go around, since it might force people to take to the streets in protest.
Whether an attempt will be made to confiscate or outlaw existing unfavored firearms is unknown.
In other news, every proposal on Obama's website is about doing more to you or "for" you, expanding government, spending on new projects and increasing existing ones, and applying social and legal pressure to force society to change.

3- White Powdered Calcium
The lamestream media told you:
"More than 30 letters containing a suspicious powder were mailed to Chase bank branches and federal banking regulators' offices in nine cities, authorities said Tuesday in what was being investigated as a first, if extreme, public backlash over the nation's financial crisis," says Lara Jakes Jordan of the AP.
"Initial tests on the powder proved negative for poisonous or otherwise dangerous toxins, the FBI said. An FBI spokesman in Oklahoma, where eight letters turned up, said local preliminary assessments showed the powder was harmless calcium," she writes. http://tinyurl.com/5jgbbf
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
This story is false on its face because it can't be an "extreme public backlash over the nation's financial crisis," since it was the work of one person not the public. That's hopelessly bogus editorializing in the story's lead, plus the motivation is currently unknown. No apology for the fear-mongering blame-the-public remark is expected.
This story is false on its face because the white powder cannot possibly be "harmless calcium" as the AP claims the unnamed FBI spokesman said. Reporters and editors, known to have little understanding of chemistry or natural sciences, failed to catch the obvious error before it went out to tens of millions of unsuspecting victims of the government school system, who are also known to have little understanding of chemistry or natural sciences.
Calcium is a highly reactive soft gray metal and not a white powder. It combines with moisture with explosive intensity and is therefore extremely dangerous as well as toxic. Toxic means poisonous, but because the material is so explosively reactive, there's really no way to swallow it. The reporters didn't know enough to ask.
Calcium phosphate, the stuff in milk your Mom told you to drink so you could get your "calcium" and be strong is obtainable as a white powder, as are other calcium compounds, if you know where to look.
Anyone seeking to put white powder in an envelope, which is a serious crime if intended to threaten or cause alarm, could use cheap and plentiful talcum powder, confectioner's sugar, plaster of Paris, baking flour, corn starch, MSG, Sweet 'n' Low stolen from a diner or myriad other goods easily found in any grocery store, before they would need to locate white powdered calcium compounds at steep prices. The FBI could not be reached for comment.

4- Politicians Aren't Businessmen
The lamestream media told you:
President Bush is holding a meeting of "world economic leaders" on Nov. 15, according to press releases promoted by the Associated Press and carried by virtually all "news" outlets.
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
This story is false on its face, because "world economic leaders" are people in business, and President Bush is holding a meeting of global politicians. Politicians, and government in general, are world economic meddlers and obstacles. They interfere with business, slow its progress, regulate its advances, tax its earnings and generally make it harder for business to thrive, saddling it with red tape, trade barriers, obstacles to entry, and eating out its substance.
If anything could show the statist bias of the AP, this story is tied for first place with hundreds of others they routinely issue, from government press releases they receive and circulate without meaningful review.
No real news of what really happens in the conference is expected. Actual conversations, wheeling and dealing, tacit agreements and plans for future agendas will be reduced to carefully worded press releases, which the AP is expected to circulate without meaningful review.

5- A Tough Shot
The lamestream media told you:
The Associated Press reports, "An 8-year-old boy died after accidentally shooting himself in the head while firing an Uzi submachine gun under adult supervision at a gun fair. The boy lost control of the weapon while firing it Sunday at the Machine Gun Shoot and Firearms Expo at the Westfield Sportsman's Club, Police Lt. Lawrence Valliere said.
"The boy was with a certified instructor and 'was shooting the weapon down range when the force of the weapon made it travel up and back toward his head, where he suffered the injury,' a police statement said. Police called it a 'self-inflicted accidental shooting.'"
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
The horrific tragedy of an accidental death to a child is beyond imagining. The news media loves such local stories, because they can play them up nationwide, while avoiding real news that poses real threats to people at every corner of every state in the land. It also helps vilify gun ownership, a major "news" goal, making a single tragedy news for days on end, thousands of miles away, while ignoring the threats to your life that kill hundreds of people daily right near you.
Also beyond imagining is how an eight-year-old could simultaneously squeeze and hold the hard backstrap grip safety of an Uzi and the trigger, both necessary to make the gun discharge, while pointing it at his head.

6- Dangerous Energy Drinks
The lamestream media told you:
According to Elizabeth Weise, writing for USA Today, "One hundred scientists and physicians have written a letter to the Food and Drug Administration asking for more regulation of increasingly popular energy drinks because their high caffeine content puts young drinkers at possible risk for caffeine intoxication and higher rates of alcohol-related injuries...
"The United States is the world's largest consumer by volume of energy drinks, roughly 290 million gallons in 2007, according to Zenith International, a British consulting group. Americans drink 3.8 quarts per person per year." http://tinyurl.com/5wdbxw
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
In a free country, government has virtually no business regulating what you drink. A scientific examination of the olden Constitution, the theoretical source of all delegated power given to government by the people, has no mention of energy drinks, drinks, food, drugs or anything remotely related. This implies "authorities," regardless of their agency, have little legitimate power to act in this matter at all.
Instead of standing up for the rights of the citizens, watchdogging the government, applying logic or recognizing the rule of law in its reporting, USA Today and its sycophants who ran the story without question -- merely sound a scary-sounding alarm as if it's the nanny state's duty to protect you from your diet, and the nannies are falling down on the job.
Energy drinks, a popular and vigorously growing part of the economy, currently earn $5.4 billion annually, which is quite valuable in a slow economy. They are now threatened with increased impediments to doing business by the paper's promotion of the proposed regulations. The authorities are called "scientists" even though the proposal is for social change.
With U.S. population currently estimated at 305.5 million, the paper's estimate of 3.8 gallons per person per year is fairly close mathematically. However, since most of the public avoids those brews, and since college-age students and twenty-somethings often subsist on the stuff, the gallons per person is completely deceptive, a typical and recurrent lamestream mistake. Most publications and broadcasts viewed by the public don't even advertise the products, which the drink makers know would be a complete waste of money, despite "America's newspaper's" claim that we all consume nearly four gallons of the stygian go juice.
Red Bull, the top seller, has about as much caffeine as a cup of coffee, 80 milligrams. "The drinks are aggressively marketed to young men as performance enhancers," says Weise, contradicting her own average U.S. consumption figure, a point editors, who are known to be bad at math, apparently missed. "Caffeine intoxication," a new scare phrase, is undefined, but five cans of Red Bull in rapid succession would equal an amount that does not put people "at risk from potential adverse effects from caffeine, according to health authorities worldwide," she says, further undercutting any veracity she might still have.
The entire story is a result of the press release the 100 scientists issued to publicize their letter to the FDA, since a letter to the FDA by itself is so un-newsworthy it would not make the news, even for USA Today. Their PR agency is not named, but is believed to be proud of placing the story.

If you selected "a," you're in line with mainstream thinking. Congrats! You get a free subscription to USA Today or a comic book of your choice, whichever you can read without moving your lips.
Question 2
All of the experiments with collectivism in this country, such as the communitarian communities of New Harmony and Oneida, quickly failed due to the inherent fatal flaws of central planning and the collective ownership of property. Similar experiments by nation states have resulted in tyranny, mass starvation, widespread poverty and genocide.
Therefore, what is best for the nation?
a) More collectivism
b) Less collectivism
Correct answer: "a." If this was your answer, you should think about applying for a job at The New York Times.
Question 3
Medical care and medical insurance are much more costly than they would otherwise be, due to the government virtually destroying a consumer market in healthcare over the last 66 years and shifting costs to third parties.
What should be done to make medical care/insurance more available and less expensive?
a) Nationalize all remnants of a consumer market.
b) Restore a consumer market.
Correct answer: "a." Wow, your intellect is awesome if you got this one correct. No doubt, in order to be intellectually consistent (you know what that means, right?) you want the government to nationalize the food industry and require all Americans to eat at government commissaries. Burp! Excuse me.
Question 4
The federal government is insolvent and is printing money to hide the fact. In addition, it has over $60 trillion in unfunded liabilities for Social Security and Medicare, or over $700,000 for each American under the age of 18.
What should be done about this?
a) Give Americans more free stuff and entitlements.
b) Give Americans less free stuff and fewer entitlements.
Correct answer: "a." You should run for office if you got this one right.
Question 5
Inflation is an insidious, hidden tax. In the 137 years from 1776 to the passage of the Federal Reserve Act in 1913, inflation averaged almost zero. Since 1913, inflation has increased dramatically, especially after the gold standard was removed. In the last half-century, the dollar has lost about 90 percent of its value, and the "money" supply has increased by about 3,000 percent. Along with government housing policies, easy money was the primary cause of the latest housing bubble and subsequent collapse. Government printing presses are now running red hot to pay the cost of the bailout. High inflation will inevitably follow the current economic downturn, thus penalizing savers, who are the backbone of a healthy economy.
So, can you trust the government with your money?
a) Yes.
b) No.
Correct answer: "a."
Question 6
Fatherless families are a leading cause of poverty, school dropouts, crime, emotional problems, and bad grammar. A leading cause of fatherless families is men who walk away from their parental responsibilities and encourage the mothers of their children to "marry" the state instead of them.
Therefore, what government action would have the highest payoff in reducing poverty, school dropouts, crime, and emotional problems?
a) Increase welfare, K-12 education, child care, tutors, and psychotropic drugs.
b) Remove incentives for men to walk away and for women to marry the state.
Correct answer: "a."
Question 7
Barack Obama would get a perfect score on this test by choosing answer "a" for all of the preceding questions.
Did you vote for him?
a) Yes.
b) No.
If you answered "a" to the above and to every other question, you are solidly in the mainstream.
If you answered "b" to every question, that explains why you feel like a stranger in a strange land. It also explains why you yell at the TV, mutter at the newspaper, are seen as a crackpot and are thinking of emigrating.
Incidentally, I failed the test.

One of the nation's leading papers asked me to write a description of the result of the election, BEFORE the election was held, to run on the day after. They never ran the piece. But you can read it:
"If campaign promises are the gauge, expect our next president to be our first emperor, unfettered by the olden Constitution, decreeing policy at will, heedless and free from the constraints of limited government and delegated powers that made this nation exceptional. Hello Alan, I enjoy reading Page Nine and it does open my mind to quite a few areas of importance. I am a member of both the ACLU and the NRA. BOTH organizations promote what I believe to be basic tenets of freedom. While they sometimes differ in their beliefs, I can rationalize both tenets as acceptable to me, at least for the most part. I have a concealed weapons permit; carry concealed (seldom open) and do so with the knowledge that both the ACLU and the NRA would help protect my rights if necessary. Keep up the good work. Obviously you follow the 'lamestream' news and have definite opinions. It is refreshing to read various opinions. --Merill F. While many of the suggestions listed on your website are clever, sometimes we overlook the obvious. For most purposes "gun owner" works just fine. For the occasional person who goes not actually OWN any firearms, but supports the right of others to do so, "self-defense advocate" would cover it. --David N. [Perhaps. But if gun ownership is villified, or outlawed, or merely castigated, "gun owner" is like "heroin owner." Marksman provides a touch of nobility and honor, and avoids the polarizing "gun" while simultaneously embracing it.
