I've created a special feature for the print media and broadcasters ("Page Nine" regardless of where or when it runs), that covers stories afresh, not the way news rooms typically flavor things. It would help reduce the distrust so many news consumers feel and could be the most avidly followed item you carry -- if you carry it. It certainly is well received by my audience.
This casual sample might make you say, "We'll NEVER run that!" but Page Nine is being built around ad revenues from clear-thinking mainstream businesses.

It’s unclear if B.H. Obama will accept specially engraved firearm gifts from Colt, Winchester, Remington and other manufacturers, being proposed on the Internet as a litmus test. If he does, his base goes ballistic, if he doesn’t, ballistics lovers go ballistic. Tough choice. No word from manufacturers if their cozy with the idea, and no idea how many of their fans have posed the question to them. Yet. Write your favorite gun maker and ask them to make an offer to the candidates.
HELLER UPDATE: As expected, the District of Columbia is doing everything possible to undermine the Supreme Court ruling in Heller, to make it virtually (instead of completely) impossible to use a firearm for self defense in the home, and place registration requirements so abusive that few may wish to act under the new dictates and “amnesty” program. WARNING: Governments everywhere will try to use the stunning hubris of the D.C. policy as a model for their own actions, making Heller the precursor to the worst gun restrictions the nation has ever seen. Read the rules yourself, be sure you’re sitting down.
On my directory find the new law, the new regs, and the D.C. official PR announcement with plain-English details: https://www.gunlaws.com/supreme.htm
The horrifying, law-avoiding details issued by D.C.’s rulers include:
No semi-auto handguns of any kind allowed; guns in your home must be unloaded and locked or disassembled (exactly what the Supreme Court overturned) unless and until you are attacked and need it for self defense; only one gun registration in 90 days, and it must be brought in for ballistics testing while you are fingerprinted and databased;
Three separate taxes totalling $60 per gun; “rights testing” with 20-question multiple choice test (no details on the contents or passing grade have been released); 180-day “amnesty” period for people who already own guns; special “runaround” policy requires pre-application approval, presentation to gun dealer (none known in D.C., a separate issue concerning banned out-of-state sales); immediate return to the only approved police station; instant disclosure requirements to street officers if stopped enroute; passport photos (another hidden tax); no prostitutes allowed (really!).
It is a blatant effort to deny and harass exercise of rights the High Court declared are fundamental. Gang bangers and other criminals need not apply and are specifically excluded from all these requirements.
----------
1- Hero Joe Horn
The lamestream media told you:
Joe Horn, a 62-year-old Texas man, was cleared by a grand jury of murder charges in the shotgun slaying of two men on his property. Horn, who loaded his shotgun while on the phone with a 911 operator, clearly said he was going to kill the young men, and then the sound of his shots were recorded and replayed incessantly, creating a controversy.
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
News reports generally failed to mention that the two dead criminals, caught red-handed burglarizing Horn's neighbor's house, were in the country illegally. News media policy is to ignore or avoid the illegal immigration aspects of crimes when possible, because they believe it might expose a stereotype, create a stereotype, or is not important, though nearly everyone who reads their tripe believes it is very important. Reasons for the difference in opinion are unclear.
Texas has robust "Castle Doctrine" laws protecting homeowners and the innocent, and making things tough on home invaders even if they aren't illegal aliens committing crimes here. Horn said on tape that he knew of those laws, and the officer on the other end of the line acknowledged the laws were in place, but tried in many ways to convince Horn to do absolutely nothing and let the burglars rob his neighbor.
----------
2- Guns Kill Criminals
The lamestream media told you:
FBI figures for 2006 show 10,177 homicides that involved guns, proving conclusively once again that guns are evil and should be outlawed. Only 195 of the killings, or 1.9%, were deemed "justifiable" by the Bureau, meaning a criminal was shot by a citizen in self defense or with other legal justification.
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
It was not known at press time how many of the gun-related homicides were criminals killing each other, which according to some experts would be a good thing.
Some of the criminals shooting each other could be seen as self-defense shootings, except any criminal with a gun cannot claim self defense, even if his drug buddies are trying to kill him. Most “gun deaths” are actually war casualties, in the government-funded war on some drugs. Maps showing gunshot demographics can be found here: https://www.gunlaws.com/GunshotDemographics.htm
If guns save just one life, according to some experts, it would be worth it. With 195 people alive today because they were able to defend themselves, the proposal to leave them defenseless, condemning them to death, is seen as controversial. The moral authority to require those people to die could not be found in a search of the available literature, from the Bible to the U.S. Code.
Why 195 heroes who survived assaults by murderous criminals have not been featured on front pages across America, or given awards in pompous ceremonies, could not be determined at press time.
No independent corroboration of the low FBI statistic for self-defense shootings is available. The numbers of shooting homicides that were gang related was not available. The number of shooting deaths that had a racial component was not released, but interactive maps assembled by The Baltimore Sun indicate a tremendous lack of diversity in urban homicides, at least for that town. Nebraska, Montana and many other states do not report the problem that large urban inner-city communities do, for reasons that were not clear at press time. Discussion of possible demographic inequalities in U.S. murder rates is not allowed in "news" media, since it might be insensitive or identify stereotypes.
----------
3- Dangerous Brady States
The lamestream media told you:
The Brady Center gun-control group has issued its list of the states with the best gun laws, and we give them prominent coverage of this each year without checking for accuracy, the net effect of their custom ratings, or what they consider the “best” gun laws to be. We’re just “finding truth and reporting it,” since the Bradys did say what we said they said.
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
GeorgiaCarry.Org Member Barre Bollinger was intrigued by the Brady Center’s state ratings. A score of 100 is Brady’s highest possible score. Here is what Barre had to say.
“I ran some numbers today on a sample of the Brady scores vs. the ten safest states in the Union. Brady scores are from their own site. Violent crime stats came from a U.S. Census Bureau 2004 report, and include number of murders, forcible rapes, robberies, and aggravated assaults per 100,000 population.”
Not one of the ten safest states has a Brady score over 12 out of 100, with the scores ranging down as low as a 2! Safe states fail the Brady test miserably, or maybe, the Brady test identifies unsafe states, news reports didn’t say.
The chart is available for your use, along with extensive commentaries. Brady’s top-rated state is California (meaning its gun freedoms are the lowest), but California (at 552 violent crimes per 100,000) ranks number 41 -- in the top ten for most crime-ridden states. http://tinyurl.com/6mox5p
The news media was unavailable for comment.

4- Gun-Free Suicide Soars
The lamestream media told you:
Nothing.
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
Despite Lack of Guns, Japanese Suicide Rate Soars: Japanese professionals in their thirties are killing themselves at unprecedented rates, as the nation struggles with a runaway suicide epidemic. Newly published figures show that 30,093 people took their own lives in 2007 -- a 2.9 per cent increase in a year -- leaving the country as the most suicide-prone anywhere in the developed world and rendering government efforts to combat the problem a failure…
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article4170649.ece
“Suicide is a cultural phenomenon, and for the elderly, a medical issue. It has almost nothing to do with guns," said one knowledgeable observer. Japanese in large numbers throw themselves under trains.
The mediocre Hollywood movie “The Happening” recently featured guns as a convenient suicide tool for people forced to kill themselves by angry plants (maybe mediocre is too kind), but it did include one scene, designed to be horrific, that showed two legitimate self-defense shootings to protect homeowners from belligerent children trying to force entry into a private house during a disaster.
----------
5- Global Whining Idiocy
The lamestream media told you:
Global warming has caused acne, agricultural land increase, Afghan poppies destroyed, Africa devastated, African aid threatened, Africa in conflict, aggressive weeds, air pressure changes, Alaska reshaped, allergies increase, Alps melting, Amazon a desert, American dream end, amphibians breeding earlier (or not), anaphylactic reactions to bee stings, ancient forests dramatically changed, animals head for the hills, Antarctic grass flourishes, Antarctic ice grows, Antarctic ice shrinks, Antarctic sea life at risk, anxiety treatment, algal blooms, archaeological sites threatened, Arctic bogs melt, Arctic in bloom, Arctic ice free, Arctic ice melt faster, Arctic lakes disappear, Arctic tundra to burn, Atlantic less salty, Atlantic more salty, atmospheric circulation modified, attack of the killer jellyfish, avalanches reduced, avalanches increased... and that’s just the A list.
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
The rush is on to blame virtually anything, even polar opposites like ice forming and ice melting, on global warming. It has reached such a fever pitch that one ambitious soul has compiled a list of published news items and solicits your help in keeping it current.
For the complete list of more than 500 global whining catastrophes in alphabetical order, check this site, where each item is a link to the “news” story that generated it. http://www.numberwatch.co.uk/warmlist.htm
In other news, the list of 32,000 bona fide scientists who have signed the petition calling global warming a scam continues to grow, yet it is still ignored in lamestream reports for unknown reasons. Maybe they’re just not being clear enough: "The human-caused global warming hypothesis is without scientific validity and government action on the basis of this hypothesis would unnecessarily and counterproductively damage both human prosperity and the natural environment of the Earth." Why can’t they just say what they mean. http://www.petitionproject.org/index.html
So many people are making money by invoking the words global warming, experts believe the runaway train is not about to slow down anytime soon.
----------
6- Battery Funding Scam
The lamestream media told you:
McCain Offers Prize For New Battery. The need for new energy alternatives is so urgent John McCain is “willing to throw money at it,” according to the Associated Press. He proposed a prize of $300 million for whoever can develop a more efficient car battery, and a $5,000 tax credit for consumers who buy zero-emission vehicles. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=5222871
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
In a campaign stunt that bodes poorly for a constitutional republic, a presidential candidate wants to take money innocent from taxpayers and give it to someone willing to design batteries, instead of letting researchers do research on their own, and letting taxpayers keep their own money.
“If the need for a product is worth $300 million, let entrepreneurs pursue it,” said the Uninvited Ombudsman, with his blood boiling enough to warm the Earth. “Someone should tell McCain he could ask Congress to take such outrageous unconstitutional steps, but he’s only running for president, not emperor, and can’t simply decide to give our money away himself, not matter how good an idea he thinks it is.”
To be fair, both major candidates are proposing schemes that only emperors and dictators can take, unchallenged by a sleepy “news” media. B. H. Obama has a plan to force everyone to pay for everyone else’s medical care.
No details on what would qualify as a prize-winning battery were provided in the countless identical stories that ran nationally from the AP “news” release, because the AP and none of their “affiliates” bothered to ask. McCain did say it should be able to “leapfrog” the industry, a term of unknown scientific value. The Energizer Bunny could not be reached for comment.
Reporter Glen Johnson, in now-standard lapdog style, simply relayed the political pronouncement and failed to ask even the most basic questions:
How many massive new power plants, already browning out to keep up with air conditioners, would it take to charge a nation of car batteries? Don’t they lose net energy to produce electricity, losing energy to transmit the electricity, to finally lose energy pouring it into batteries, according to simple laws of physics? “Energy loss is required by nature every step of the way,” said a high-school teacher, but that’s science, and so is not included in “news” reports.
He notes that battery cars, known as bat-cars for short, can only be considered zero-emission devices if you ignore the massive emissions of the plants that generate their recharge power, a popular fraud used by greenwashing politicians, and overlooked by their complicit reporters.
----------
7- Golf Hides Shooters
The lamestream media told you:
Tiger Woods and a small number of other people played at a golf competition recently, an elite sport enjoyed primarily at country clubs, according to reports blanketing Page One. Woods has a leg problem, but won the tournament anyway.
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
USA Shooting National Championships for Rifle and Pistol ran through Saturday, July 5. During the week of competition some 300 shooters, including 13 members of the U.S. Olympic Shooting Team, were vying for national titles at the Ft. Benning, Ga., International Shooting Complex. A handful of people playing golf (the nation’s #3 sport) apparently squeezed all 300 shooting competitors (the nation’s #2 sport, based on equipment sales) entirely out of the news. The U.S. Olympic Team will be heading to Communist China for the Olympics, and according to experts, will get squeezed out of the news there too. http://www.usashooting.org/viewRelease.php?id=153
Results in free pistol, sport pistol, rapid fire pistol, men’s and women’s meets, rifle, airgun and multiple disciplines are posted here: http://www.usashooting.org/results.php
----------
8- Schooling Problems Identified
The lamestream media told you:
President Bush’s “No Child Left Behind” law is a disaster, AIMs testing accomplishes nothing, and America’s schools have fallen into horrific disrepair. High school graduates can barely read, or identify basic places on a map, or do simple math, or identify the parts of government or the people currently in office, or the principles that made America great.
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
The political right, fairly or unfairly, bluntly blames the political left for the condition of America’s schools, pointing at:
--devout politically correct educators and curricula,
--revisionist history that accuses dead white men of all the world’s problems without recognizing their stunning achievements and establishment of self-governing freedom that has swept the planet,
--social studies that portray America as the root of all evil,
--political science that sees leftist dictators as champions of the people and America’s Founders as oppressors,
--physical science classes that teach political policy and greenness instead of fundamental science
--affirmative action and diversity schemes that advance students who are hopelessly unqualified so classrooms achieve “balance”,
--feminization programs that attempt to turn boys into girls and men into girly men,
--literature that avoids the classics and instead focuses on modern gay, atheist, perverse, immoral and similar nouveaux “subjects”,
--sensitivity efforts that remove physical activity and even “tag” from the school environment because these are rough male-dominated anomalies,
--vilification of competition -- the very heart of American success -- from sports so that teams do not win or lose and no one’s feelings are hurt,
--dumbing down of curricula in the belief that this will improve student test results and no one needs to know what everyone used to need to know anyway,
--and programs for artificially supplied respect and self worth, so no child has to feel the pain of failure or the unequal accomplishment of accomplishment, which would be unfair.
Aside from blaming a few timid recent efforts to fix the problems like AIMS testing and the Behind law, it’s not clear what the left blames the school debacle upon. In a move that surprises no one, they have not blamed the right.
----------
9- Smokers Cost Less
The lamestream media told you:
Smoking is so bad it should be outlawed everywhere, and a private establishment should not be allowed to allow smoking even within its own private walls.
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
The American Academy of Physicians and Surgeons has released a report that indicates nonsmoking persons of normal weight have the highest lifetime medical costs
Politicians and others usually list the funding of prevention and chronic disease management programs as a key method of achieving cost containment. Smoking and obesity are most frequently mentioned as risk factors to target. In the long run, however, removing these risk factors would probably increase medical costs -- even assuming that preventive interventions cost nothing.
Using a simulation model, researchers found that never-smokers of normal weight actually incurred higher lifetime medical costs than obese nonsmokers. Smokers of normal weight had the lowest costs. Life years gained through prevention are not lived in full health. Reduction of risky behavior resulted in substituting expensive, chronic diseases of aging for cheap, lethal ones.
In other news, Japan passed a law to outlaw flabbiness, but the belief that it will reduce medical costs may lead to overmedication and increased medical costs. Read (and comment on) the story: http://www.aapsonline.org/newsoftheday/0034
----------
10- Saddam’s Uranium Unloaded
The lamestream media told you:
The Associated Press is reporting that the last remnants of Saddam Hussein’s stockpiles of concentrated uranium have been secretly shipped out of Iraq and received at the Canadian firm, Cameco, which bought the supplies. The material will be refined in Ontario.
Shipped by air and sea, the 550 metric tons of refined yellowcake uranium feedstock, in 3,500 secured barrels, is the last of the secret shipment, and U.S. officials say they are glad it is out of Iraq.
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
Anti-war protesters, liberals, the political left and much of the Democrat Party, along with TV and newspapers commentators, part of the political right and part of the Republican party, which has been screaming loudly about non-existent weapons of mass destruction in the hands of the executed Iraqi dictator, have issued no correction and could not be reached for comment.
Although unmentioned in the report, an immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq would have left the dangerous radioactive prize available to anyone with trucks. It is not publicly known how much other secret or dangerous material or munitions are lying around in the Iraqi desert.
According to leading experts, the 1,213,000 pounds of yellowcake uranium, “is a lot,” and worth tens of millions of dollars, though the actual sale price was not released. “Saddam could not refine the coarse nuclear fuel for bombs,” said one observer, “because he’s dead.” Israel had bombed the plant where it was stored in 1991, further slowing the process.
----------
11- No D.C. Handguns
The lamestream media told you:
Although we very don’t like it, and our editorial department is in conniptions and working overtime to denigrate it, and even our “news” department is trying to spin it so it doesn’t say what it says, the Supreme Court has ruled that residents of Washington, D.C. can keep handguns in their homes (just like criminals, gang bangers, drug dealers, parolees, ex-felons, miscreants, assorted wackos and police and federal officers) but only for self defense and personal protection. What’s the world coming to, here comes Armageddon, or at least the Wild Wild West.
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
Although innocent, defenseless, law-abiding, decent, harmless, female, gay, weak, elderly, victimized, abused and other citizens in D.C can now keep and bear arms thanks to the Supreme Court’s glorious ruling supposedly restoring the rights the government had mercilessly confiscated, creating the biggest crime-ridden phony “gun-free” zone in the nation, D.C. residents cannot obtain handguns, which are “the quintessential self defense weapon” according to the Court, thanks to federal law:
18 USC § 922(b) It shall be unlawful for any licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector to sell or deliver --
(3) any firearm to any person who the licensee knows or has reasonable cause to believe does not reside in (or if the person is a corporation or other business entity, does not maintain a place of business in) the State in which the licensee’s place of business is located...
No word yet on whether dealers in adjacent Maryland and Virginia are willing to risk their business licenses and incur prison sentences, to sell legal firearms to residents of D.C. Officials in D.C. implied slightly that it would be OK, but they have no authority over BATFE, the agency that would make the arrests.

I'd love to have one of your new catalogs. By the way, thanks for the email updates. I really enjoy them (of course, sometimes they infuriate me - such as the stories about the BATFE) - Thanks! Bill A.
I am so pleased with your work and words I try to pass it along to everyone I know or meet. Hopefully through my efforts and your ability to articulate we will re-educate the brainwashed masses. Best regards, Steven S.
Attorney and crack shot friend Mark Moritz notes, regarding strong economy in RKBA: "I'm just guessing that is not increased units sold, but higher prices (and fewer units sold). Ammunition has gone up 50+% in the past year. (Or, to paraphrase W. C. Fields, "The cost of living has gone up ten cents a round.") A 23.6% increase in ammunition revenue is actually a decrease in rounds of ammunition sold (and fired). Many people are shooting less because ammunition has gotten so expensive. This is a result welcomed by the anti-rights people -- they would be delighted to see. Total revenue might increase, but shooting could become a hobby only for the wealthy." [Note however that the May retail sales increase of 10.3% is real growth, since it is measured by background checks, not dollars. Alan.]
Alan,
This #9 is one of the best I've ever read. Thank you for doing what you do. --John Burtt, 50 Caliber Institute, Oklahoma

Regarding “unsafe tiny cars” from P9 47:
As the owner of a full-sized Ford Bronco, with a 351 Windsor V8 engine (the last of the *real* utility vehicles), I have to say the "safety" issue is a red herring. I'm sure that a Honda Accord has a better crash text safety rating than an Explorer, etc. The real issue, which I'm sure you understand, is *choice* Thanks, David R.NC
The myth that small cars equals unsafe is simply not true, and has been perpetuated for years in the US by uneducated editorialists. NHTSA and auto manufacturers have PROVEN that size has very little to do with safety - but engineering and safety engineering has EVERYTHING to do with safety. As an example consider the Smart car. While it is the smallest (and only) mainstream city car currently sold in the US, its crash test data is as good and as safe as a mid-sized sedan. Otherwise, thanks for an excellent publication. Don. B.
[I stand corrected. Alan.]
